Urdnot Wrex had been picking through every part of London and the Citadel looking for something, someone, for hours. The second that he had heard the explosion on the Citadel, he and his squad drove full-speed toward the area. The curious red light that had engulfed the area confused him slightly, but he wouldn't question it. Shepard was up there, and there was no way that he would rest until he found her.

The Krogan was growing frustrated and he felt on the verge of murder but then he heard it. He didn't know how he heard it, but he did. The slightest gasping breath from behind him, mixed in with the grinding sounds of machines and shouts.

"Shepard?!" he called and ran toward the body. Once the form was in sight, he pushed a good bit of the rubble out of the way and knelt beside the human.

Another gasp and eyes opened momentarily and a mouth moved, yet no words came out. Wrex picked up Shepard's body as delicately as he could and cradled her in his arms. "I need a medic! Now!" He shouted to his men and made his way to the 'medical station'. He set her down on one of the tables and a grunt left her mouth.

From his time fighting beside Shepard, Wrex learned that medi-gel, although unnecessary, was never a bad item to have on him. He applied it to the worst of her chest and abdomen wounds.

"If you don't make it through this, I'll have them bring you back, so I can kick your ass," he growled in a low tone. "Where's that medic?!" Wrex shouted as a human with surgical tools and other equipment that was forgein to the Krogan rushed to him.

The medic looked at Shepard, ran his omni-tool over her body to examine her injuries and his eyes grew wide. "She's in terrible condition," he said somberly. "We have to get her to the hospital on the outskirts of London, but I don't know if she'll make it."

"Shepard's died before and all that did was piss her off, she'll be fine," he snapped and sighed. "Should we call for an airlift or drive there?"

The medic gasped. "This is Commander Shepard?" He was shocked to see the greatest woman alive looking like death. He switched his omni-tool to call mode and radioed multiple stations, Admiral Hackett's ship as well.

"This is Dr. Leroy Bates, I have Commander Shepard here. She's in critical condition and I need an immediate evac," he spoke fastly and looked at Wrex. "I need you to come with us."

Wrex nodded and looked at Shepard. She was breathing, but it was shallow and short. "Come on, Shepard..."

Shepard's eyes opened, they were unfocused and bloodshot. "Wr-Wrex...?" her voice was hoarse and hardly working. She tried lifting her head but only had pain shooting through every fiber of her body in response. She let out a mixture of a grunt and a scream and closed her eyes, a singular tear streamed down her face.

Within seconds, an airship was in the area and ready to evacuate Shepard, Wrex, and Dr. Bates. Together, they lifted Shepard onto a stretcher and moved her into the ship.

Once inside, Wrex grunted and looked at one of the crew. They were battleworn and tired. "Hey, do you have a vid-comm in this thing?"

"Yes, sir. Follow me," the crewman lead Wrex through the ship to the communications room. "Who would you like me to contact?"

"Get me the Normandy," he nodded to the crewman as he typed in the code for the Normandy.

---------------------

Garrus didn't want to do it. How could he? This was Shepard and the crew wanted to hang up their hats and call it quits on her? No, Garrus couldn't. He held the plaque tightly in his grip. The rest of the Normandy's crew was behind him, with the exception of EDI. He heard a shuddered sigh come from Liara and Tali's breathing was choppy. His own wasn't stable, but he wasn't worried about himself. "She can't be gone," he muttered and hung his head. "The galaxy still feels...complete."

Liara stepped forward and rested a hand on his shoulder and he looked at her and shook his head, "I can't do it, Liara. I'm sorry..." With plaque in-hand, he walked away. He took the elevator into the quietest room in the Normandy, the communications room.

Garrus sat in the darkness and stared at Shepard's name, rubbing it gently with his thumb. "I should have went with you...I should have," his grip on the plaque tightened and closed his eyes. His breathing shuddered. "I love you, Nikita..."

If it hadn't been for Garrus being in the room, none of Normandy's crew would have heard the call in the vid-comm room. Garrus's eyes shot open and he hit answer. He tried to regain his composure, but the glimmer of hope that he had felt kept him from doing so completely.

Wrex appeared before him and Garrus was confused, but he had to ask. "Have you found Shepard?" His voice was desperate and his eyes gave way to the internal struggle for control over his emotions.

"Yeah, we got her, she's not lookin' too great, though. Doc's in with her now, we're taking her to some hospital outside of London to see if we can fix her up," there was doubt in Wrex's voice and Garrus didn't particularly take comfort in it.

"But will she be alright?" Garrus found himself twiddling with the plaque. He knew it. Shepard couldn't be dead. Regardless of the hopefulness that was stirring inside of him, there was panic and worry.

"I don't know, Garrus. They'll do everything they can, but I can't promise you anything," Wrex was surprising Garrus at every word. There was a somber sound to his tone and it worried him even more.

"We'll be there. If she wakes up before we arrive, Wrex, as a favor to a friend, tell her that I love her," the words no longer felt foreign on his tongue, and why should they? He meant them, after all. He was skeptical about having Wrex relay the message at first, but both of them had come a long way since their first meeting.

"Will do," the Krogan nodded.

The conversation ended and Garrus ran back to the elevator, everyone was still where they were. A Turian version on a smile overtook Garrus's face as he looked at the crew. "I just spoke with Wrex," he began and everyone's attention was automatically his. "He found Shepard. She's in bad shape, but alive."

"Joker, I know it's a bit much to ask for, but do you think the Normandy could get us back to Earth?" Garrus kept a level voice but every cell in his body was pleading. He had to know that she was going to make it.

"Of course it can. The Normandy has been through a lot worse than a bump into the ground. Plus it's the fastest and strongest of any ship in the entire Alliance. We'll get there but it might take us a few days." Joker said and the rest of the crew had a short celebration.

"Drive Core, Online. Power Thrusters are a go. Customized Navigation; Traynor, set a course that would get us to the Sol system in the fastest way possible," Joker's voice was full of authority and had a hint of bitter pain. He could have said EDI, if she was alive. Hell, they could have already been half way there, but whatever happened to her, he was going to have questions, and someone better have the answers.

"Let's go get our Commander," Traynor said and set the Navipoint for the Sol system, finding it to be closer than expected. "Course destination time; three solar days."

For some reason, Garrus felt relieved and reassured, as though everything was okay. He went up to Shepard's cabin and placed the plaque on her desk. Garrus looked at the bed and replayed the memories of his and Nikita's first, and extremely successful, attempt at having a Turian-Human relationship. He smirked and walked over to the bed.

Garrus sat on the mattress and sighed. He laid back and stared out the skylight. He heard the door open and Liara walked in.

"I apologize if I am disturbing you," the Asari's voice was sincere as she stood in the doorway. "I will leave if you would like me to."

"No, I was just remembering some things," he looked at the floor as he spoke.

"Do you think that she'll make it?"

Garrus froze. The question that had come from Liara brought back the unsettling panic within him, but he wouldn't let her see it. He shook himself slightly and sighed. "Honestly, I don't know. But she has to make it. She's come too far for Fate to screw her over now."

Liara looked at the plaque and decided to leave it. "I hope you're right," she sighed. "I guess that I will leave you be now. The next three days are going to be difficult."

"I'll keep in contact with Wrex. And Liara, thank you for coming up here," Garrus said and laid back down on the bed. Once Liara left, he gave a sigh. His hands were shaking and his mind was a mess of a million thoughts. His eyes closed and even with his mind racing, he drifted off into sleep.
OP SPOILER FANFICTON.

So this was originally going to be a FemShepxLiara fanfiction, but then the new ending came out and I thought that it would be better as a Shakarian fanfiction.

I obviously chose to Destroy the Reapers, so my Shepard lived at the price of EDI and the Geth.
Mind you, I do regret my choice...just a bit. Only because the Quarians have to rebuild Rannoch on their own. Hey, I came to destroy those fucks. I did just that. So if you want to throw a fit over my choice, I know what I've done and I have to live with the consequences...well my Shepard does. Yeah...
